Students are ‘Growing and Thriving’

As part of Welshpool High School’s ongoing wellbeing programme, a competition was held to design an image on the theme of ‘Growing and Thriving’.

The prize was to have the image transformed into a mural by Miss Atkin, the school’s talented Head of Art and her equally artistic art club, to brighten up a currently unloved corner of the school and to celebrate the skill and creativity of pupils.

“We received some beautiful entries and decided to select an overall winner and several ‘highly commended’ designs to be incorporated into the final mural design,” said a spokesperson.

“Our worthy overall winner was Ellie Jones (Year 8) who presented a fabulously colourful parrot design. In year 7 our highly commended entries came from Carys Birch and Evie Lee Andrew.

“Libby Loxam was highly commended in year 8, as were Lani Petit and Keelie Venables in year 9.

“Well done to all our worthy winners and we very much look forward to the completion of the eye-catching and uplifting artwork.”
