The Armoury has extended an open invitation to Welshpool area residents to attend a charity fun day of activity for the whole family to enjoy next week.

Saturday, May 26 will see The Armoury throw open its doors to show off its new state-of-the-art facilities which has transformed the once ailing building into a modern health and fitness centre which has become a huge hit with a growing number of residents.

Last week it launched its new timetable of classes while a host of new facilities are being finished ahead of the big Open Day, which will raise funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

“We wanted to do an event that reached out into the community to make residents feel welcome without making any commitments,” said Manager Chris Greatorex. “I am confident that people will be impressed by the changes we have made over the last 12 months. All of our instructors will be there on the day to offer tailored advice on how people can get into shape.”

The Armoury will be unveiling its new Ladies-only Gym, Studio Room, Members Room and Classes while promising more “special” announcements on the day.

There will be a bouncy castle from 10am-1pm in the main hall and free outdoor classes held from 2-4pm for anyone to try. There will also be gym challenges from 11am-1pm and other Challenges in the Main Hall from 2-4pm.

“The day will include different challenges for everyone to try including 'Spin part of the Tour De France’, 'Step the Eithel Tower’, 'Row the Thames’ or even 'Run' part of the China Wall!” added Chris.

Rikki Lloyd will supply food and drinks will be available throughout the day, with the bar opening at 2pm. The day is expected to extend until 9pm.
