Get set for sizzling summer finale

31/08/2012 @ 09:44

This weekend may well mark the end of summer, but September looks set to continue our incredible year of events.

The Welsh Food Festival at Glansevern Hall Gardens takes place on both Saturday and Sunday while the Comedy Club makes its much anticipated debut at the Royal Oak on Saturday night. Add a fun day at Leighton to the mix and the autumn blues seem a long way away.

The organisers of the annual Welsh Food Festival are ready to welcome thousands of visitors with a record amount of producers (115) showcasing as well as food demonstrations from top chefs such as Dudley Newbury. The event is free for children under 16 years old with a number of activities also tailored towards the youngsters.

Bernard Harrison, Chairman of the Welsh Food Festival said: “The Festival is a delight for all the family with demonstrations from leading chefs, hands on activities for children and a myriad of gardening inspiring ideas to take home. With something to ignite everyone’s passion, visitors won’t be disappointed by what promises to be the perfect way to spend a summers day!”

Meanwhile, The Comedy Club still has some tickets available from the Royal Oak with three of the circuit’s top comics taking to the stage.

But the September events don’t end this weekend. The Tour of Britain, featuring Bradley Wiggins, heads this way on September 14 and cycling enthusiasts can take part in the Race The Train event, organised by The Rotary Club, a few days later. There’s also the big Oldford Fun Run and Picnic coming up at Powis Park.

All in all it has been an incredible summer for the town and one that will live long in the memory.
