Hope you've all had a good Christmas and a great start to the New Year. If it was anything like mine you'll already be putting yourself through the paces by now, working off the usual excess that's settled in over the festive period and duly suffering the aches and pain that goes with it! Guess it's a good job I'm on studio lockdown for the near future...

One of my last gigs of 2012 was just down the road at The Buttermarket in Shrewsbury and for those that missed it I just had to share the beginning of the set with you as its way too funny to leave out... I'd literally just began the show alongside UK hip hop artist Dynamite MC when one of the sound crew from Sam and The Womp (who had just finished their performance on stage before me) was busy dismantling their set up and unplugged the wrong cable. As much of a nightmare as it was for us, the comedy timing was just brilliant so check out the video clip below and get ready for the drop!

Now for the past couple of weeks I've heard lots of random resolutions from friends, some funny, some serious, some...err...rather strange and most of which will be, without doubt, already broken. I'm finally forcing myself to stick to the one resolution I've tried to make for the last few years and that's to spend more time making music than just going out there and playing it! The next few weeks are strictly studio focussed to work on forthcoming releases and I'm pretty excited. I've already finished my next single for Skint Records and now starting work on the follow up as well as a couple of other projects and remixes.

Whilst it's snowing heavy over here, it's that time of year where most of the dance music industry heads to the warmer shores of Mexico for the annual BPM festival along the Yucatan Peninsula. If you've never been it really is one of the most beautiful places on earth with white sands as far as the eye can see. BPM's line up this year is pretty much a who's who of the club-land elite with names like Carl Cox, Steve Angello, Luciano, Steve Lawler, Mark Knight and many many more. You can watch some of the action streamed live from a great site called http://www.be-at.tv - well worth checking out over the weekend!

Also, just to give you a heads up there's a rather large free track giveaway on its way very shortly - I can't say too much about it just yet but it involves one of the biggest names in dance music and we're going to be giving it away to you guys for free! Keep your eyes peeled at http://www.facebook.com/sonnywharton and we'll post the details there in the next couple of weeks.

So as well as working on new music this month I've just uploaded the latest episode in my Live Sessions podcast series, this time coming live from my set at Club Teatro over in Russia which I flew to straight from Amsterdam's ADE conference towards the end of last year. Russia is a ridiculously massive place and in all the times I've been over there it continues to blow me away at how vastly different one city can be from the next... I suppose it is a little like how different Welshpool and Newtown are from each other back here right?

If you like that mix feel free to check out http://www.soundcloud.com/sonnywharton where all of my DJ mixes and new bootlegs are available for free download.

So I think that's about it for this month. Thanks for checking in, let's make 2013 a good one. Catch you back here in a couple of weeks...
