Not everyone will have heard of Tony Ross, but every parent will certainly know his work which will now be carried out in Montgomeryshire!
As we have reported frequently, A-listers from Sir Alex Ferguson to Sir Alan Sugar have been connected to local properties, attracted by the staggering value for money.
And Tony, who has settled in well to life in rural Mid Wales, could well be the first of many to sign on the dotted line.
He is one of the most successful children’s Illustrators whose work includes the likes of Horrid Henry and The Little Princess. He has moved into an unnamed property close to both Newtown and Welshpool with partner Wendy Finney.
Their move from Oxfordshire to Wales was facilitated by McCartneys Fine & Country which markets local properties to potential purchasers in the South East.
“I remember walking round the property in awe of what you could get for your money here,” said Tony, who moved in January and has already completed seven new books including the illustrations for the book on The Royal Baby being written by Tony Bradbury and published by Oxford Press.
Tony said that the move offered “real country” and the rail link keeps him connected for his regular commutes to London.
He admits that his publisher had questioned whether he would find “good food” but they have already been out and about sampling the top notch restaurants and pubs in the surrounding areas.
“It is a privilege to be able to assist both Vendors and Purchasers alike and to be a part of their onward stories,” said McCartney’s Tom Carter.
