Fingernails and Facelifts!

26/10/2010 @ 03:36

The beauty industry is a billion-dollar global business and Welshpool has enjoyed its part in the boom.
Salons have opened up with regularity over the past decade and, while other businesses have struggled, beauty seems to have flourished during the recession.
We caught up with Sarah Rowlands (below) from purebeauty which opened at a time when other mainstream businesses were closing, but it has ridden the crest of a wave to introduce an exciting new development for the town this week… and it’s not just for the ladies!
How long have you been in business?
We opened the salon in February 2009 after about four months of planning the business.
What made you decide to set-up in business?
I have worked as a therapist in the beauty industry for 12 years now and I am passionate about what I do. I like to be able to offer my clients the very best in treatments and products, and allow them time to enjoy their pampering experience. This was not always the case in other salons where I’ve worked and I knew I could do better, so I felt I had to give it a go.
How’s it going and any future plans?
It’s going extremely well. We have already expanded the salon to include more treatment rooms. I have taken on more staff and now employ five therapists. The late evening opening times remain very popular. In the future I would like to open other salons and we are currently looking for suitable premises.
The industry has been knocked due to issues like sun-beds. So what is your advice to people thinking about tanning?
The spray tanning system and tanning products that we use are completely safe and made from 100% natural ingredients. I have never liked or promoted sun-beds and advise all purebeauty clients never to use them.
What is your target audience?
Our target audience are people who care about the way they look and feel. The purebeauty client is someone who appreciates the quality products that we use in treatments and enjoys the relaxed, friendly atmosphere within the salon. We hope the CACI Ultimate System will interest all groups, male and female, young and old.
Do you have many male clients?
We have a few who visit the salon regularly, for a variety of treatments. I wish more men would feel comfortable using the salon as there are many treatments suitable for improving their appearance and general well-being. Perhaps they are a little shyer than the average woman? I don’t know!
So what about these new treatments coming to town?
Our latest treatments are available to our clients following a major purchase by the salon of the CACI Ultimate Non Surgical Facelift System. It’s found in all the leading spas and salons including Harrods, Hilton Hotels and Harvey Nichols and many ‘A’ List celebrities admit to using the CACI system.
As well as being the world’s leading Non-Surgical Facelift System, the CACI Ultimate is fantastic for treating Acne and Sun Damaged Skin, along with Breast Firming and Tummy Toning. We had to complete a week-long training course in London and pass examinations before we became officially qualified CACI Therapists. For more information visit: www.caci-international.co.uk

We hear there is an Open Day at the Salon on Thursday from 3-8pm?
During the Open Day people will be able to come into the salon and see the CACI Ultimate System demonstrated and enjoy some nibbles and a glass of wine. There will be ‘one off’ discounts available on the day for clients booking CACI treatments and all purebeauty staff will be available to chat about this exciting new development.
