Volunteer day at the Castle

26/02/2015 @ 08:50

Powis Castle is holding an open day on Saturday to encourage more local people to volunteer at the world-famous tourist attraction.

Tens of thousands of visitors from across the world visit every year, and more local residents are urged to provide a warm welcome to Welshpool.

The day runs from 11am-1pm, when those interested are welcome to enjoy a cuppa and hear about opportunities.

Swantje Staar, Volunteering and Community Involvement Co-ordinator at Powis Castle, said: “This year we have more exciting volunteering opportunities than ever before. Whether it’s playing the grand piano in the ballroom or giving a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of our wonderful garden, there’s something for everyone. We’re always open to suggestions too, so come along!”

The Castle says that time commitment is flexible, so volunteers can decide how much time they would like to give, from once a week to once a month or ad hoc.

Training is provided for all roles and the National Trust reimburses the cost of travel expenses.

To book a space call 01938 551 929 (option 2) or email swantje.staar@nationaltrust.org.uk.
