With get fit quick fads and miracle diets hitting the headlines once again, our fitness expert Chris Greatorex offers some wise advice on how to look good this summer.

“Hello everyone, and welcome back to my column.

Sorry, it’s been a while since my last article as it has been a very busy period of personal training and classes here at great fitness. But now the weather is warm and sunny I thought it was time to give you some ideas to get you more active.

The clocks have gone forward and the sun has come out so the temptation is to go the gym and to enjoy the sunshine in the back garden.

No, far from it! This is the time to get a good mix between indoor and outdoor training, enjoying the great fitness facilities and beautiful countryside that Mid Wales has to offer.

Whether it is a summer holiday you’ve got coming up or just local weekends, now is the time to get yourself ready.

It doesn’t matter if you are training indoors or outdoors, the emphasis of this article is on planning. It is important with your training and diet to always plan your week ahead. Without planning, you can end up grabbing food when you’re out and about which may not be the right option, and without setting yourself specific training days it can lead to you not being prepared to train and coming up with EXCUSES.

I always plan my week ahead - looking at times for training and also which days are my rest days and what I will eat each day. You don’t have to be ridiculously strict with your diet but try keeping the week as clean as possible and keep your treats for the weekend.

Our class timetable (below) at Great Fitness is planned well in advance so you can incorporate classes and training into your weekly schedule.

For your start to the summer why not look at our class timetable with core class, to all ladies classes, boxing, spin and kettle mix we’ve got everything you need under one roof to get you started.

Enjoy this spring weather!”
