A Welshpool builders has been awarded a major award for its top quality homes.

Montgomeryshire Homes, the firm behind 10 brand new homes and a further eight being developed in Castle Caereinion, wowed judges at the Achievement Wales Business Awards in Bangor, beating a pop-up food business and a drone filming firm.

Presenting the award at Bangor University, BBC newsreader Nicholas Owen said the firm, which was set up over two years ago with the aim of providing quality housing in Mid Wales and the surrounding areas, “demonstrates excellent prospects for growth and a determination to succeed”.

In addition to the development at Castle Caereinion, Montgomeryshire Homes will begin work on a 23-home mixed development in Llansilin, near Oswestry in the New Year.

Richard Glover-Davies, one of the founders, said he was delighted the firm has been recognised for its achievements.

“There are some great businesses across Wales and hence some tough competition, so it’s great to have won the award. We are really proud of the homes we have built so far for local people, and we are excited about the projects we are currently working on in Castle Caereinion and Llansilin.

“Our aim is to make sure that there is enough quality housing in mid Wales, so that everyone who wants to buy a house in this area can.

“House building is a great business to be in because it’s really satisfying to watch beautiful new builds take shape, and incredibly rewarding to see happy new homeowners move in to their new house. That’s the really nice part of the job – meeting so many different people from this area and helping make their dreams come true.”
