Let’s remember Teresa, together
Teresa (pictured) sadly died earlier this year of a heart attack, leaving behind her husband Dylan and daughter Kiera who has been going to Hope House since she was five months old after being diagnosed with a life limiting condition called agenesis of the corpus callosum, which means the middle part of the brain is missing.
Last year, Teresa organised a walk for Hope House to give back for all of the support that the family has received, and her husband is continuing the tradition in her memory.
We spoke with Dylan who shared the thinking behind the event:
“Hope House has helped us through many ups and downs including when Kiera contracted meningitis as a seven-month old baby, so last year Teresa decided to ask them if they could help her organise a walk along the canal to the Horseshoe Berriew and back, as she wanted to give something back for what they have done for us over the years.
“So, last year we held the inaugural Welshpool Canal Walk which was a great success with around 90 people taking part and it raised over £5,000.
“When Teresa passed away this January, Hope House decided to rename it in her memory calling it the Welshpool Canal Walk - Walking for Tease - the ‘Tease’ bit was after her nickname.
“This year’s canal walk takes place on Sunday at 10am from the Church Street Car Park, with registration starting at 9.30am. Registration is free and there is no minimum sponsorship, however, we do ask you to raise what you can to help us continue to support Hope House. The walk starts at 10am. All children must be accompanied by an adult and dogs are welcome.”
Dylan added that he expects up to 250 to take part.
