No. 2 in the physical charts

10/12/2018 @ 09:51

It’s been a fantastic first week of sales for The Fire Tones’ ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’ with top 40 entries in three of the main national charts.

The single has entered the Physical Sales Chart at No. 2, showing just how many people are keen to lay their hands on a lasting memento of the fantastic single recorded by firefighters up and down the country.

On the Downloads Chart, it sits at 39, giving it a placing of 22 in the combined physical and download charts.

Unfortunately, due to the Overall Charts being heavily weighted towards streaming, the single hasn’t made the top 40 but when you consider that up to 3,000 other CDs have been sold directly by the firefighters themselves, which do not count towards the charts, it has been a great first week of fundraising.

The idea was created by Welshpool firefighter Chris Birdsell-Jones following a night out in the town last year and it has garnered the support of a number of high profile celebrities from Max Boyce and Sian Lloyd to original Band Aid creators, Midge Ure and Bob Geldof.

Proceeds from the single will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity and the Band Aid Trust.
