A Newtown car delaership has announced a major expansion after purchasing a successful Wrexham business.

Arthurs Vauxhall dealership, which also has a base in Oswestry, has purchased the Dickens of Wrexham Peugeot business which employs a team of 25 staff..

And David Goldthorpe, Arthurs of Oswestry Sales Manager, has been appointed General Manager.

Announcing the acquisition, Nigel Williams, Managing Director of Arthurs, said the company had been looking for an opportunity to expand the business for some time.

“The addition of the Peugeot dealership in Wrexham will benefit Arthurs in many ways,” said Nigel.  “It not only provides an alternative car brand to Arthurs portfolio, but also takes us into a new geographical area.

“We are all very excited about this opportunity and our aim is to deliver class leading customer satisfaction from a highly motivated and enthusiastic team.

“The Peugeot brand is currently enjoying a resurgence of interest due to the vast improvement in design and quality.  Most recently the new Peugeot 308 was awarded the ‘Car of the Year’ award which highlights the massive leap in improvement in Peugeot products.

“Having looked at the opportunity to represent other brands it really became very clear, after a short period of consideration, that the Peugeot model range was very exciting and the improved driving characteristics made the choice very easy.

“We are adding a further 25 members of staff to our team as a result of this acquisition and we expect that their Peugeot knowledge will allow us to make a great start with this new car dealership.”

The acquisition of the Peugeot dealership at Croesfoel, on the outskirts of Wrexham, will also help to expand Arthurs van selling opportunities.

Arthurs will be selling the complete range of new and used Peugeot vans from Bipper to the sturdy new Boxer.
