Big event switched due to school flood

The damage to Welshpool High School has forced organisers to find a new venue for one of the region’s biggest annual dinners.
The Mid Wales Charity Forum welcomes the cream of the area’s motor sporting fraternity and raises thousands of pounds for good causes.
However, the well-documented flood damage has forced organisers, who had booked the school’s Theatr Clera, to switch it to Abermule Community Centre on Saturday night.
Organiser Howard Watkins, of Rally Marketing, said: “It is unfortunate but the night will go on as scheduled and we are grateful to the new venue for helping us out.”
Former World Champion co-driver Phil Mills and former World Rally Championship star Gwyndaf Evans will be among guests for the night which will be hosted by S4C presenter Howard Davies.
Proceeds from the tickets and a raffle will go towards a charity selected by the family of local rally driver Martyn Lewis who tragically died in a rally accident last year.
Tickets cost £7.50 each and are still available from Rally Marketing, Boot Street, Welshpool. Tel: 01938 553764.
