School set to fully re-open Wednesday

Welshpool High School should be back to full capacity on Wednesday following its dramatic start to the new term.
Burst pipes over the Festive Period caused extensive damage made worse by flooding to the brown asbestos ceiling of the kitchen and canteen.
It has meant only a limited number of pupils have started the term on time but the rest can now plan a return to school on Wednesday.
“The specialists have been in today to finish clearing up and it will take a couple of days to have everything back to normal,” said Graham Lewis, Chair of the School Governors.
“The headteacher has sent a letter out to the parents of Years 7, 8, 9 and 10 pupils instructing them that unless they hear to the contrary, the children will be expected back on Wednesday.”
Headteacher, Mr. Jim Toal, confirmed in the letter: “On Wednesday, we will have a limited hot meal service for pupils, but we will not be able to operate our normal cashless card system. Therefore, it is important that your child brings approximately £3 for lunch each day, or an appropriate packed lunch. Pupils who receive a free school meal will be catered for as normal. Whilst we can offer a hot meal at lunchtime, there will be no food served during morning break. We will resume this service as soon as possible.
“Once again, thank you for your patience and support. We look forward to getting everything back to normal as soon as we can.”
