Former police superintendent Des Parkinson is standing as a candidate as Dyfed Powys Police & Crime Commissioner ad in the Welsh Assembly elections for UKIP.
Mr Parkinson, who lives in Arddleen, was based in Newtown, Aberystwyth and Carmarthen, before his retirement and has also served as National Assistant Secretary of the Police Superintendents Association.
Mr Parkinson also stood for the Montgomeryshire seat in the National Elections finishing third behind Glyn Davies and Jane Dodds with 3,769 votes.
Mr Parkinson, who spent 29 years in the Dyfed Powys force said: “I’m delighted to put myself forward for the Commissioner’s role. Policing runs through my veins and I strongly believe my experience and passion will drive me to make the big decisions we need to take in order to bring the force’s operations in Dyfed Powys to their highest level.”
