Glyn Davies told to stay away from election count

Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies has been told to stay away from tonight’s Welsh Assembly Government election count at Maldwyn Leisure Centre.

And the MP is not amused that he will not be there to support his Conservative colleague Russell George when the result is revealed in the early hours of tomorrow morning.

“I was not away from Westminster in time for the traditional 'Eve of Poll' hustings in Welshpool Town Hall tonight. And now the Returning Officer, Jeremy Paterson's office has refused permission for me to be at the count.

“He must have his reasons,” said Mr Davies.

But is seems the reason for Mr Davies not being let in is down to his own office.

A spokesperson for the returning office said; “Every candidate is allowed a limited number of counting agents to be present at the count, the Conservative party failed to put Glyn Davies’ name on the list.”
