Powys County Council’s commitment to those living with dementia has been strengthened with the publishing of a new key document.

To coincide with Dementia Awareness Week 2016, the council has published a Dementia Mission Statement which outlines what the council aims to achieve and how.

The Mission Statement was formerly adopted at a meeting of full council last Wednesday.

Cllr Dawn Bailey, the council’s Dementia Champion, said: “We are delighted to launch the Mission Statement. Our aim is that our council, through the services delivered, becomes a council that supports and enables people living with dementia, their carers and families to live well.

“We recognise the role we play in meeting this challenge and look forward to working with our communities, partners and volunteer groups to make our vision a reality.”

The publishing of this new document formally moves that commitment forward and outlines how we aim to achieve this.”
