Tax scammers fool local residents

Local residents are being put on high alert after it was revealed that fraudsters are targeting the Welshpool area this week.

Calls have been made to local households from crooks claiming to be HMRC officials and attempting to discuss and receive personal details.

While most have been unsuccessful, some still manage to get the details they need to help themselves to the cash. 

“We would like to remind residents not to give any personal details to anyone over the phone or via email or text,” said a Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson.
