Welshpool has gained status as a Dementia Friendly Town.
Welshpool applied for official Dementia Friendly Status last week and it has just been confirmed that the town is officially now dementia friendly.
A steering group was set up with Welshpool Town Council support around three months ago has been working with Alzheimer’s Karen Rodenburg to raise awareness and promote Dementia Friends and Champions.
The chair of the Steering Group Cllr Derek Simms said: “This is a giant step forward in making Welshpool a very friendly environment for those with Dementia. Well done to the group for getting this far so quickly.”
A web site is being prepared to go online in the next month while the Town Council is also looking at the guidelines for their public toilets being dementia friendly.
