Welshpool Town Council has joined forces with the Shrewsbury & Telford NHS Trust in a bid to secure the best healthcare facilities for the town.
The two organisations will work together to ensure residents of Welshpool are well informed and consulted on matters regarding health an in particular the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital department closure discussions.
“A working relationship has been confirmed to ensure the best healthcare for Welshpool and to ensure residents of Welshpool are well informed and consulted on matters regarding health,” said new Town Mayor Councillor Steve Kaye.
“We are particularly concerned about the Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital discussions.”
Councillor Kaye and Town Clerk, Robert Robinson, met with Simon Wright, Chief Executive and Julie Clark, Director of Corporate Governance of the Shrewsbury Telford Trust.
The working relationship will have three main objectives:
i) A bespoke web site administered by the Town Council will full and accurate information on future health services for local residents.
ii) Information though the media and newsletters to inform residents of any plans for health care in Mid Wales.
iii) Ensuring that Welshpool residents will be consulted in the early Autumn on any future plans.
The Town Council allocated funds at its full council meeting on May 25 to support the working relationship and ensure that the residents are fully informed and consulted.
The new web site will be found at www.midwaleshealth.org.uk and will be up and running by the end of May.
