The public of Dyfed-Powys are being asked: “What sort of new Chief Constable do you want?”

Police and Crime Commissioner Dafydd Llewelyn (pictured) will use peoples’ views as he works through the recruitment process.

Current Chief Constable Simon Prince is due to retire this year.

Mr Llywelyn said: “Our new Chief Constable will lead around 1,200 officers and 600 civilian staff. He or she will aim to keep local people and visitors safe with an annual budget of around £93m.

“The question is simple: What type of Chief Constable do you want?

“I want local residents to have a say in this big decision; it’s the first of many occasions on which I’ll seek their views on key issues over the next four years.”

Elements to consider for responses in this case include the type of personal characteristics, professional experience and public image the new Chief Constable should have.

Police officers and staff have been asked the same question.

Job specifications are being formulated by Mr Llywelyn who also plans to appoint an interview panel. The new recruit is expected to be in post by the end of 2016.

Responses should be sent before July 5 via either:
