Private sector landlords must undertake training and obtain a licence by November 23 under new housing legislation.

And Powys County Council has arranged three local courses after its Housing team gained accreditation to deliver Rent Smart Wales’ Private Sector Landlord training.

Rent Smart Wales was introduced last year to deliver Part 1 of the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 that requires all Private Sector Landlords and Letting Agents who manage properties to register, and if applicable, undertake training and obtain a licence by November.

Training for landlords will take place from 9am–4.30 pm at the following venues:

August 9: Newtown, The Park Offices

August 10: Welshpool, Neuadd Maldwyn

August 17: Newtown, The Park Offices

The course costs £65 and payment must be received to confirm booking. Payment can be made over the telephone by contacting Powys County Council’s Housing Services on 01597 827464.
