Changes at Powysland Museum

21/08/2016 @ 09:20

Changes have been made to the Powysland Museum in Welshpool with new displays and other developments to improve experiences for visitors.

In the last six months Powysland Museum has undergone a number of changes to enhance the visitor experience and to create access to more of the museum’s collections.

Outside the museum the previous wooden sculpture has made way for two large herons created by local artist Roger Williams. The sculptures are very eye-catching and have already attracted many compliments.

Inside, the museum’s reception desk has been rebuilt and enlarged so it is now a proper workspace as well as a welcoming introduction to the museum.

In the museum’s permanent galleries on the first floor additional items have been added to the WW1 and WW2 exhibitions and there are some completely new displays on ‘Welsh Ladies’, the Eisteddfod and Laura Ashley.

Finally the museum has continued its temporary exhibition programme and is currently showing an exhibition on life in the trenches during World War 1.
