Youngster's quick thinking to put out bin blaze

A quick thinking youngster put out a Welshpool blaze tonight before firefighters arrived on the scene.

Fourteen year old Rhys Humphreys, whose father Craig owns The Angel, reacted quickly when he spotted a bin on fire alongside the toilet block in Berriew Street Car Park.

Rushing to the scene with water he managed to put out the blaze while someone else alerted the fire service. Rhys's quick actions averted a far more serious situation and the blaze was extinguished before the fire crews arrived.

The firefighters are at the scene now ensuring the site is safe.
