While the weather hit play in most sports on Saturday, five did manage to complete 18 holes in the wind at rain at Welshpool’s latest tournament.

Taking advantage of the slightly better morning conditions on Saturday, William Pritchard took the Tony Crump Cup with a splendid medal score of 70.

Second was David Evans (22) with 74, while third was Carwyn Jones (11) with 77. Two other golfers refused to be defeated and Gwynfore Evans and Keith Evans took the final two places with an 82 and 95 respectively.

Sunday heralded much improved weather and a good field competed in the Peter Morris Memorial. Making it a clean sweep for the weekend, Pritchard won again, this time on count-back with a score of 40 points from Max Williams (2) with Richard Templeton (5) in third on 38 points.

Meanwhile, the Seniors' captain's choice, a Texas scramble, was won last week by Keith Roberts, Bob Aldridge, John Morley and Derrick Arthur with a net score of 59.4.

Also last week, Richie Amyes (28) outclassed a large field to win the September Seniors’ Monthly Medal with a net score of 70. A score of 72 was enough to secure second for Phil Constable (15), pushing Will Cooke (20) into third on the count-back.
