Ashley Banks set a new record time of 27 minutes 35 seconds as 24 cyclist took part in Welshpool Rotary Club’s Race The Train event yesterday.

This year’s Race the Train saw 33 cyclists racing the 11.15am train from Raven Square Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion.  The Engine was Countess with Ian McClean the diver.

The Mayor of Welshpool Cllr Steve Kaye waved the cyclists off whilst the Chair of Llanfair Caereinion Council Cllr Gareth Jones held the chequered flag at the end.
The cyclists beat the train this year with 24 completing the route quicker than the train with only eight missing out and one retiring.  The full results are listed below.
