The official opening of the new conservatory at Welshpool Town Council’s Westwood Day Centre took place on Monday.

The new conservatory was funded by donations and bequests from former residents and their families and is already proving extremely popular.

Built by Meadow View Windows the ribbon to mark the opening ceremony was cut by long-serving residents Carol Macintosh and Diane Whiffen with help from the youngest staff member – care assistant Amy Yapp.

Malcolm Douglass, chairman of the Town Council Care Committee, said he hoped the facility would be welcomed by old and new users of the Day Care facility and thanked families whose donations had made it possible.

The Mayor, Steve Kaye, said the Westwood Day Care Centre was an example of the many services and facilities being taken on by the Town Council.

A blessing was given by Rev Steve Willson, the Vicar of Welshpool.
