Jamie inspired by workmate

A local lad is part of a small group of workmates on the final leg of a fund raising walk supporting a colleague diagnosed with lymphoblastic leukemia earlier this year.

Jamie Evans, from Llanfair Caereinion (pictured in red), has joined colleagues from Pave Aways in Knockin for the marathon three-day walk from their premises close to Oswestry to Tywyn.

The 74-mile hike included a Friday night stop in Llanfair Caereinion and another in Machynlleth last night as they continue their final day push on Sunday to the coast in a bid to raise £15,000.

“We hope to get there by 4pm on Sunday so if anyone is about please come down and give us a shout!” said Jamie.

His colleague Neil Holding was diagnosed with the illness in April and Jamie said that his courage and resilience through this time has been an inspiration to everyone at Pave Aways.

“We decided to do something to help show our support for Neil and raise some money for Cure Leukemia, the blood cancer treatment centre in Birmingham,” said Jamie.

“We are a wide range of ages and fitness levels, and doing the whole thing in fancy dress! We have also been camping along the way.

“We would be very grateful for any donation, large or small! The support has really kept us going through the pain and the rain.”
