A funeral procession will lead mourners down the Back Road on Saturday ahead of a service remembering the life of Cllr Ann Holloway, who died last week.

The Town Council has announced that a procession will leave the former English teacher’s home in Ledan Terrace, Brook Street, at 1.10pm before being joined by members of Welshpool Town Council and Powys County Council as it passes Triangle House.

The service at St Mary’s will commence at 1.30pm followed by interment at Christ Church and an afternoon tea at Church House.

“All are invited to attend the service, interment and afternoon tea to celebrate this incredible lady’s life,” said a town council spokesperson.

There will be a book of remembrance at the afternoon tea and also in the Tourist Information Office for two weeks following the service.

There will be no parking at Church House after 12 noon.

Miss Holloway, or 'Annie' as she was affectionately known, died last Monday in the Rhallt Nursing Home after a short illness.
