"Hard" punishment for Dale

The top five golfers all scored 36 points in Saturday’s Turkey Trail at Welshpool Golf Club with Dale Hardy winning on the count-back.

But Hardy’s celebration were tempered by a seven shot Turkey Trail handicap reduction from 13 to six, having finished in second place in last week’s event. He edged out Roger Davies, Steve Proctor, Andrew Watkin and Martin Ward

Sunday’s Turkey Trail saw Carwyn Jones complete a fine medal round of 70 to win from Mark Fletcher, who pipped Dai Ellis on the count-back with 72.

Derrick Arthur won the seniors' Monty Robinson matchplay final, beating Richie Ames 3&1 on the 17th hole. A three ball Texas Scramble was won by Ann Newell, Brent Parry and Willie Cooke with 60.25.

The first round of the seniors' winter tour was played at Northop withSammy Mark winning with 32 points followed by Keith Roberts with 30 and the captain, John Morley on 29.
