Welshpool Golf Club’s final 18-hole tournament of the year proved a thrilling affair with no less than 12 pairs within two shots of the winners.

The Forester's Grip, a Greensomes competition, was won by Richard Picken and Dave Evans with a score of 64.0. Ian MacLeod and Lee Pritchard were second with 64.6 and in third place was the father and son pairing of Gareth and Max Williams with 64.8.

On Sunday, the clock change brought a grey misty start to the day as the first of the club's winter Turkey Trails over 12 holes was played.

Dai Ellis won on count-back from Berwyn Evans with both scoring 27 points, and in third was Richard Templeton with 26.

During the week, the seniors enjoyed two stableford matches. On Tuesday, Derrick Arthur won with 38 points with Kevin Salter just beating Sammy Marck on count-back into second after both shot 37 points.

On Thursday, Mick Curley won with 38 points, with Arthur holding his good form to come second with 34. In third was David Read with 32.
