Welshpool is planning a weekend of Remembrance so the town can collectively pay tribute to those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.

An event on Friday evening will be followed by the traditional Sunday parade and service to enable us all to show our appreciation.

Welshpool Town Council, working with the Royal British Legion (Welshpool and District branch), are holding a Festival of Remembrance on Friday in the Assembly Room of the Town Hall. The evening starts at 7:30pm, with doors open from 7pm, and music is provided by the Porthywaen Youth and Training Band and the Border Men.

There will also be a performance from comedian Paul Ray and poetry from Pat Edwards.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at a cost of £5, available from Welshpool Tourist Information Centre, Welshpool Town Council office and Jan’s Card and Gift Shop. Tickets on the door will cost £6.

On Sunday, a procession through the town will led by the Newtown Youth Band, leaving Park Lane at 10:40am and marching towards St. Mary’s Church where a service will be held from 10:50am.

Following the Service and laying of wreaths, the procession will march back to the Town Hall, where light refreshments will be served in the Assembly Room.
