As news reaches us of yet another power tool theft from a van in Welshpool over New Year, police have confirmed that an arrest has been made.

A reader contacted us to say their van was broken into in the Little Henfaes area with more than £1,000 worth of tools stolen.

This is the latest in a very long list of break ins and like previous incidents, some sort of master key has been used, although on this occasion the vehicle was not a Transit Van.

"I hope you will report this to help people be more aware of the problem and to encourage them to take appropriate action,” explained our reader.

But it appears that there may have been a breakthrough with the Shropshire Star reporting that a 60-year-old man arrested in connection with the spate of thefts.

“A man from the Macclesfield area has been arrested in connection with the offences and bailed pending further enquiries,” said a spokesperson.

Dyfed-Powys Police has reiterated its warning for tradesmen to take security measures whilst tagging their equipment so they can be returned if found.
