Local secondary school pupils have a month to design a logo for a new partnership which aims to develop career guidance for young people.

A competition for the best design, which runs until the end of January, will earn the successful young person the latest iPad.

The Positive Pathways Powys group brings together Powys County Council, secondary schools in the county, the NPTC Group of Colleges, Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO), Careers Wales and Cambrian Training,  who are working together to make it easier for young people to choose what to do after they leave high school.

Cllr Arwel Jones, Cabinet Member for Education, said: “Positive Pathways Powys is all about helping our young people choose the right direction for them after high school. It might be 6th form which is best for them, it might be an apprenticeship or further education or it might be another form of work or volunteering. There are many options available to young people and it can be a bit bewildering.

“To help us with this work are looking to our talented pupils to design us a logo which will represent the work of the partnership.”

Entry forms for the competition are available from Powys secondary schools or by emailing Jayne.bevan@powys.gov.uk.

The closing date for the competition is January 31 and the competition is open to all secondary school pupils.
