End of the road for turbine runs

17/01/2017 @ 07:13

The final turbine delivery has been made to the Garreg Lwyd Hill Wind Farm, situated between Felindre and Llanbadarn Fynydd, bringing to an end six months of convoys travelling through our area.

The final two blades have been delivered to site, completing the transport of 136 turbine components.

Each convoy began its journey at Liverpool Dock, using the motorway network to Chester and then the A55, A5, A489 and A483 trunk roads to the wind farm site. RES carried out a range of works to the A483 to ensure the turbine components could be delivered safely to site.

“RES would like to thank residents and businesses along the delivery route for their co-operation throughout the delivery process and to publicly thank Welsh Government Highways, Powys County Council Highways, Shropshire County Council Highways, Cheshire Police and Dyfed-Powys Police for their invaluable assistance before and throughout the delivery period,” said a spokesperson.

The wind farm is scheduled to be fully operational by spring 2017 with construction work making good progress, according to the developers.
