We’ll clean it up, but it’s not our job!

Welshpool erupted in united rage last night following our story that showed the unexplainable actions of some dog walkers using a local beauty spot.

This picture was sent to us by a disgusted jogger yesterday and it showed dozens of bags of dog poo hanging from a tree close to the bridge straddling the canal at the end of Salop Fields.

Readers came out in force to condemn the shameless actions, and the town council said it will clean up the mess today.

Cllr Graham Breeze told us yesterday they would act quickly to protect the reputation of the town and last night Town Clerk Robert Robinson followed up the councillor’s words with a promise of action.

“The Town Council lads will attend tomorrow (Tuesday) to remove the dog poo in bags on a tree near the playing fields at the Flash,” said Mr Robinson. “If anyone knows who does this, please do contact us in confidence and we will take forward the matter. There is a bin for litter and dog poo within a few yards. As Cllr Graham Breeze said ‘this is disgraceful’. You may contact the Town Council in confidence on 01938 553142 or wtcouncil@btinternet.com.”
