Welshpool Ladies Hockey Club are two games away from finishing the season in a credible third position in the North Wales league.

It’s been a season of transition for the club but the new group of players have come together well, showing in the latest win against Ardudwy when they came back from 2-1 down.

Pool took the lead through Sarah Thomas following some fine inter-passing with Ffion Johns but Ardudwy struck twice to go into the interval ahead.

But the second half belonged to Welshpool as Thomas equalised from a penalty flick before Beth Wyn Williams scored off the post to put Welshpool ahead.

When Welshpool were awarded a penalty corner, hard work paid off from training as Julie Griffith struck the fourth goal to secure the three points.

It’s Ruthin away next Saturday, and then a rearranged home game to play against Colwyn Bay with high hopes of ending the season with a flourish.
