More than £6m will be spent on Powys schools as part of a major improvement plan, following a decision by Powys County Council’s cabinet.

The amount will be evenly split over the next three financial years and among the planned works is a £145,000 roof replacement at Llanfyllin High School.

Cabinet Member for Schools, Councillor Arwel Jones said: “The funding will allow a number of infrastructure improvement projects to take place in our primary and secondary buildings in the coming financial years.

“All projects have been identified as priority schemes under the council’s improvement scoring and prioritisation criteria, and include contributions towards the cost of projects by schools and in some cases community organisations.

The planned works also include £240,000 to be spent over two phases on major refurbishment at Hafren Junior School, Newtown.
