In a cruel follow-up to the tremendous community spirit shown when a family was left homeless by a fire, thieves have returned to steal items from its shed.

Nearly £4,000 has been raised for the Hocking family following the fire at 1, Oldford View which is believed to have started in an upstairs room by a candle used during Storm Doris.

Shockingly, police now tell us that two petrol strimmers have been stolen from the property’s shed since that terrible night.

“The property was gutted by fire three weeks ago and the theft has occurred sometime since then,” said a police spoksesperson.

“Anyone who has been offered a petrol strimmer for sale in the last three weeks should contact PC Baker 1075 at Welshpool Police Station on 101 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.”
