Council need your help to prepare town plan

28/03/2017 @ 07:49

Welshpool Town Council is calling on residents for help in preparing a new Town & Community Plan which will run until 2022.

Three plans have been prepared since 2007 with the current plan set to expire this year and now the council is asking residents to submit ideas for the future.

“Previous plan projects include playgrounds, country park, markets, new shops on the Tesco Site, one-way system, improved rail service, youth council, business forum, new signs and sculptures,” said Town Clerk Robert Robinson.

“Others include major works to the Town Hall, re-organisation of the Armoury complex, charter with Powys County Council, taking over services such as the toilets, station car parks, tourist information centre, day centre, meals on wheels, open spaces and the street scene and more.”

To aid the process or preparing a new plan residents of Welshpool are asked to make any suggestions for inclusion in the new plan over the April/May 2017 period.

“These maybe ideas of policy or ideas of projects to be completed,” added the Town Clerk. “When making suggestions please bear in mind Welshpool has 6,700 residents, 30% are aged 65 plus and 32% do not have a car.

All ideas should be either posted on the Town Council Facebook page, sent by email to wtcouncil@btinternet.com or by writing to Triangle House Union Street Welshpool.
