Charity walk for fallen soldier

Organisers are hoping for bright weather and a bumper turn out as Welshpool remembers its fallen hero from the Iraq War.

Now, family and friends have teamed up with the Help for Heroes Campaign and the Welshpool Branch of the Royal British Legion to mark the sixth anniversary of his death with a charity walk.
The walk will start from the scout headquarters at 2.30pm on Sunday with entry forms available ahead of time at Café Inglenook, Tourist Information Centre, Welshpool Jewellers, Communities First and Health Focus as well as on the day itself from 1pm.
There will be stalls present at the start and those unable to attend or take part can still send donations through www.justgiving.com/cplpaulthomas.
Paul a member of the 2nd Battalion The Light Infantry, who was attached to the 1st Battalion The Cheshire Regiment, and was described as "a proud Welshman" by his platoon commander.
Lieutenant Will Follet said at the time of his death: “He was an immensely popular member of the platoon, widely regarded as its backbone.”
All monies raised from the walk will be split between Help for Heroes and the Welshpool & District Branch of the Royal British Legion.
