Mill Lane closed but business as usual at Bodens

With less than a week to go before Welshpool unveils its new one-way system, a key town centre road was forced to urgently close yesterday (Monday) and could remain out of action all week.

The road is closed between the Little Henfaes junction and the Spar Car Park meaning access to Boys & Bodens has to be via the Station end.

"It's very much business as usual," said a Bodens spokesman. "Customers need to approach us from the Station end."

Powys County Council Highway Officials closed off the section after what is believed to have been a problem under the ground.

And an insider for the Tesco development informed mywelshpool that drains had collapsed and the road could be closed all week. This has not yet been officially confirmed by the council.

It has placed extra pressure on planners who have publicly announced that Monday, February 21 will be the official opening of the town's one-way system.
