Used Telford Hospital children’s services the past 2 years?

A survey asking for people in the Welshpool area to fill in a survey about the future of Women and Children's Services at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford will only be open until June 30.

If you have used the hospital over the last two years, the NHS wants to hear from you as health chiefs put their final touches to plans for the future of health delivery in our area.

There will also be drop-in sessions on Monday, June 26 from 9.30am to 12pm at Welshpool Library and 1-4pm at Newtown Library).

“Do you live in Powys? Have you used the Women and Children's Services at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford in the last two years? If so, the NHS Future Fit review is seeking your views by June 30 to help shape the future of hospital services in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin,” said a statement.

“NHS Future Fit is a major review of acute and community hospital services in Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin. These hospitals are also the main providers of emergency & acute services - and consultant maternity, neonatal and paediatrics - for people in north east Powys.

“One option put forward by this review is that the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital should in future be the main Emergency Centre for the area. Under this option, Royal Shrewsbury Hospital would also provide Consultant Maternity, Neonatal and Paediatrics (i.e. moving from Telford to Shrewsbury).

“Any change of this nature would be subject to widespread consultation.

The NHS Future Fit review is therefore asking people the Welshpool area for their views on how much moving the women and children’s centre and services from The Princess Royal Hospital to The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital would affect you.”

Montgomeryshire AM Russell George is urging constituents to complete the survey.

 “I’m hugely encouraged that one option put forward by this review is that the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital should in future be the main Emergency Centre for the area,” he said.

“Under this option, the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital would also provide Consultant Maternity, Neonatal and Paediatrics. But its highly important that people that have used the Women and Children's Services in Telford complete this survey.”
