58-year-old man in court on Halfway House murder charge

A man appeared in court today charged with murder following the discovery of the body of another man at Tony’s Diner, Halfway House on Monday.

Belkar Singh, aged 58, of Booth Street, Birmingham, has been charged with the murder of 67-year-old Satnam Singh Blugher and appeared before Telford Magistrates today.

He was represented by Mr Stephen Edwards who made no bail application. He did not indicate a plea to the charge.

Singh was remanded in custody and will next appear at Stafford Crown Court on Monday.

A murder investigation was launched after Mr Blugher was found with serious injuries at Tony's Diner on the A458 at Halfway House at around 4.40pm on Monday. He was discovered at the diner by paramedics following a 999 call.

Officers are looking to speak to anyone who was in the diner on the afternoon or evening of Sunday, June 25. They have asked for anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to get in touch.
