Welshpool is launching a wide ranging and inclusive Festival of Sport that will run throughout the summer and involve clubs and committees representing a number of sports.

The festival has been revived by the Town Council to promote sport and healthy living and it will get underway with the Montgomeryshire Airgun League holding a taster and demonstration evening at the Royal Oak on July 13 (Thursday).

Clubs representing football and cricket have also confirmed fun days through the summer, while Powysland Museum have organised a Viking Sports and Games Day next month as part of their ongoing Nordic exhibition.

Martial Arts and Bowling are also on the schedule along with a social run organised by the popular Dolly Mixtures Running Club.

Booklets are now available from the Tourist Information Centre, which detail the events throughout the summer with contact information,” said a Town Council spokesperson. Details will also be published in the town's next newsletter set to be distributed this week.
