Public consultation is now planned on siting emergency care services at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and the move has been welcomed by Montgomeryshire MP Glyn Davies.

NHS Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups' Future Fit joint committee met last night agreed on its preferred option of emergency care and women’s and children’s services to be housed at Shrewsbury.

The committee agreed that under the scheme Telford's Princess Royal Hospital would be used for planned care.

“We now have a few 'low hurdles' to clear before going to a 12 week public consultation.
