Flicks in the Sticks no more?

The cost of showing monthly movies at the Town Hall could almost treble next year, it has been revealed.

Previously we have reported how Flicks in the Sticks was under a cloud of uncertainty and now figures show that without funding, it could cost the Town Council £300 each time to hire the film.

During the previous season, the films shown at the Town Hall actually turned a profit with the £160 income outstripping the subsidised £120 it paid each time.

Now, the Town Council has agreed that it will only continue if support is provided.

“The situation may be that the funding will be in place again from September to support this service,” the Town Council stated in its last meeting minutes. “The Committee recommends that the service only continues if Welsh Government Funding is available so that the existing level of expenditure can be maintained.”
