Your chance to join Spinathon for Lingen Davies Fund

24/08/2017 @ 08:12

Cancer survivor John Evans is holding his annual Spinathon fundraiser in aid of the Lingen Davies Fund on October 8.

The event takes place at The Cowshacc between 10am and 2pm with Mr Evans hoping to help the fund organisers reach a massive target of £2.25million over the next two years.

“The fund exists to make a positive difference to the lives of those affected by cancer in Mid Wales and Shropshire,” said Mr Evans.

“In two years time the Trust will celebrate its ruby anniversary and it has set itself the massive challenge of raising £2.25million over the next two years to fund a wide range of products that support the early diagnosis of cancer together with high quality cancer treatment to help recovery.

“With regard to my own brush with cancer I can only say that early diagnosis is of the utmost importance. Never put off seeking medical advice or feel that you are wasting the doctor’s time.

“It’s over seven years since I was diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus and in 2015, thanks to the excellent care I received from the staff at the Roysl Shrewsbury Hospital, doctors and staff at the Welshpool Medical Centre, I was extremely lucky to be discharged.

“As we all know cancer leaves very few of us unaffected in one way or another, as sufferers, families or friends so pleased give your support to this most worthy charity,” he added.

Bikes are available at £20 with individuals and groups urged to raise funds. Sponsorship forms and bookings can be made through John Evans on 01938 691188.
