More talks planned on parking permits

Welshpool Town Council will meet with residents before asking Powys County Council to introduce a parking permit scheme.

The council met on Wednesday night to consider a planning committee recommendation to introduce parking permits in High Street, Mount Street and Cobden Street.

But after pressure from residents in the Cobden Street area councillors voted to consider other streets in the town as well and to hold consultation meetings with residents in all areas affected.

Councillors expressed concerns that the planning committee recommendation had not been given proper consideration and were read letters that had been received both for and against the scheme for Cobden Street.
