The curtain hasn’t come down after all on an initiative that brings big screen cinema to Welshpool once a month.
Flicks in the Sticks has filled some of void left by the closure of The Pola Cinema several years ago, with the Town Hall being converted into a movie setting to show some of the best loved movies of recent times.
But there was concern we had seen the last of it as it went into the summer break with no confirmation of Welsh Government funding meaning it wouldn’t have been financially viable to continue. But last night the Town Council confirmed it will be back on next month.
“After its summer break, and with Flicks in the Sticks securing their funding, the Town Council will once again host monthly film screenings in the Assembly Room of the Town Hall,” said a spokesperson.
“The first screening will be on Monday, September 11, showing Lion (PG), starring Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman.
The film will start at 7pm (doors open 6:30pm) with an admission fee of £3.50. Refreshments are available and for more information contact the Welshpool Tourist Information Centre on 01938 552043.
